What you will be able to do
- Use the current format
- Check the score scale
- Separate speaking from total proficiency
Use the current format
Current ETS material describes Listen and Repeat and Take an Interview. Older independent/integrated task guides may describe a previous format.
Check the score scale
ETS introduced the 1–6 scale from January 21, 2026. A number without scale, date and skill scope is ambiguous.
Separate speaking from total proficiency
A short recording cannot substantiate a complete reading, listening, writing and speaking total. Do not treat a legacy-style total as an observed speaking result.
Use general feedback honestly
No dedicated Veritas TOEFL simulation is established here. Use supported diagnostics as supplementary practice, not a substitute for current official tasks.
Work through an original example
A fictional page displays a TOEFL-like number with no stated scale. The learner cannot tell whether it refers to speaking, a legacy total or a proprietary mapping.
They treat it as insufficiently specified and use official ETS material for score interpretation.
Practice commentary
Why this version works
Answer: The lesson is to check scope, not invent a conversion.
Practise, check and try a changed task
Choose one current official task. Review the response against that task’s requirements.
Keep any external feedback labelled diagnostic. Do not publish an estimated total from speaking evidence alone.
- Check the meaning against the original task, rather than rewarding impressive wording alone.
- Keep one concrete observation and one next action; avoid treating a single attempt as a complete assessment.
Use a diagnostic report as a starting point
If you use Veritas Speech Analyser, inspect the current supported goals, report examples and plan allowances first. The advertised trial has a limited session allowance and requires payment authorisation; check renewal and cancellation terms before starting. Keep an original recording and review the feedback against what you actually said.
Diagnostic speaking practice
See whether the speaking report fits your practice needs
Review current features, sample-report limitations, trial requirements and plan terms before recording.

Sources, scope and accuracy
