This glossary can help you prepare for the IELTS writing tasks related to the Recycling in Environment.
noun
A cylindrical metal container.
Example: The cans can now be sold to the public and reused.
noun phrase
Collection center means a tract of land, building, unit, or appurtenance or combination thereof that is used to collect.
Example: The cans need to be taken to special collection centres.
verb
Compress or squeeze forcefully so as to break, damage, or distort in shape.
Example: The cans are shredded and crushed in a special machine.
A simplified drawing showing the appearance, structure, or workings of something; a schematic representation.
Example: The diagram illustrates how aluminium cans are recycled.
A container that is used to hold water, liquids or other beverages.
Example: The aluminium is now ready to be recycled into new packaging, such as drink containers.
A building or group of buildings where goods are manufactured or assembled chiefly by machine.
Example: The cans are collected from here and taken to a factory.
Provide (a book, newspaper, etc.) with pictures.
The action or process of converting waste into reusable material.
Example: The diagram below shows the recycling process of aluminium cans.
Matter thrown away or rejected as worthless; rubbish.
Example: The cans need to be taken to special collection centres instead of being thrown away with the normal refuse.
Use again or more than once.
Tear or cut into shreds.
Discard something as useless or unwanted.
